I was so excited to learn that Kate decided she was well enough to briefly attend BBC's Sports Personality of the Year Awards night. I was thrilled to hear she was feeling well enough, and super excited to see what she would wear. Kate made her appearance brief. After watching a little more than I had planned as I waited for the royal arrival, I determined this was British Sport's Oscar ceremony. She arrived toward the end and when she finally took to the stage smiling broadly she was dressed in a deep teal Alexander McQueen with a thigh high slit.
I liked it, but it didn't blow me away. The dress is shown for sale with a belt, which a think would help. You can't see it well from these screen shots, but there is a peplum-y coat like aspect to this dress. It has more detail than you can see. I think her hair should have been up. She looked thin and tired to me--I am sure it has been a very rough few weeks.
Rumor has it that Kate and William may not attend Christmas with the Queen due to her condition, but I have also heard that the Queen invited Mike ad Carole to Sandringham for Boxing Day. I hope she is well enough to go, but we shall see.
While on stage, Kate didn't smile much, but at some point Coe commented that there was an open bar on the BBC tab, so take advantage and she just lit up with laughter. Kate spent some time chatting to the winners backstage afterward and we got some more natural smiles from her. Given how involved Kate and William were in the Olympics it seems appropriate that she was able to make it; I am glad she felt well enough.
